SUMMARY:Expecting in the Time of COVID-19: Webinar for Pregnant Interfaith Couples
DESCRIPTION:Are you in a Jewish interfaith couple and expecting a baby? B’sha’ah Tova (all in good time)! You and your partner are no doubt having daily discussions about how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting your preparations for your new addition. In an effort to open a dialogue between expectant couples and share important information\, you are invited to join 18Doors’ Rabbis Malka Packer-Monroe and Robyn Frisch for a virtual discussion. Among other topics\, we’ll discuss: \n\nIf we have a son\, is it safe to have a bris these days\, or should we circumcise him in the hospital?\nWhat kind of Jewish birth ceremony can we have for our child and where can we find Jewish clergy to help us with this? Can we also have a birth ceremony from the other partner’s tradition\, either combined or separately? Should we wait until it’s safe to have a ceremony with our family and friends or should we do something virtual soon after giving birth?\nWhat’s it going to be like having a child and not having grandparents and other close relatives being allowed to visit?\nWhat are some Jewish rituals\, customs and superstitions around pregnancy and childbirth?\nShould we be tested for Jewish genetic diseases even though we come from different ethnic backgrounds?\nAnd we’ll have time to discuss what it’s like to be pregnant and giving birth at this time of the coronavirus – issues like fears about being in the hospital\, limits on visitation\, etc. and other issues that participants may bring up\n\nMay 7 at 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. EDT (4:00 -5:00 p.m. PDT) \nClick here to register. After registering\, you will receive a confirmation email from Zoom containing information about joining the meeting. \n
